A few weeks ago, I wrote an article describing some of the basic principles of intermittent fasting. You can review that article to get all of the details and set the frameworks for your nutrition plan.In the second part of this series, I detailed how to set up your caloric intake and establish a baseline of macronutrients for the day. You can also see an example of how to set up your eating plan based around evening training sessions.Today, I want to break down how to set up your daily nutrition plan using intermittent fasting for those who do morning training sessions. For my own personal schedule, I train in the mid-morning, so here I’ll show you what to do for that time of day and also for an early morning session. Before I get into the specifics of this, I want you to understand that I am by no means saying intermittent fasting is the only way to eat. I use this myself and many of my personal training clients love it, because they have seen great results in fat loss, strength and energy and they have been able to simplify their daily meal plans. There are some days when my fasts last 18 hours and some days when they last only 12.

I get this question a lot, probably due to the fact I do variations of Intermittent Fasting and like to experiment with different protocols, so I thought I would write a blog post about it and give my 2 cents. IF for me is a great way to get some huge health benefits from abstaining from food through increasing autophagy. Autophagy is your body’s way of getting rid of dead cells and other shit you don’t need, sort of like a ‘detox’ Now we know that exercise increases autophagy too so fasting for the sole benefit of this biological process is kind of moot.

It’s 12pm and I’m having my first meal. Not because I’m too busy to eat, hate breakfast, or I want to slow down my metabolism. It’s all part of the master plan I used to drop the most weight I EVER HAVE while maintaining the same body fat in only 30 days. Why did I do it? I told one of my old (young) college professors I would beat her in a half marathon, and in order to increase my speed I had to be lighter on my feet, which means dropping some serious LBS.

Eating healthy and being active is crucial in order to prevent diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, among many other diseases. Doing exercises that increase your heart rate for a period of time is a highly effective way to keep your heart strong. Some of the most popular ones include cycling, walking, jogging, and aerobics. Strength training such as bodybuilding or weight lifting are quite popular as well to build muscle and shed fat

Share on:Facebook del.icio.us Digg StumbleUpon Twitter Intermittent fasting could help prevent type 2 diabetes and heart disease, according to a new report by Aston University researchers. The British Journal of Diabetes and Vascular Disease report suggests that intermittent/alternative day fasting can be as beneficial as having weight loss surgery for treating obesity and reducing the risk of related conditions such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes Researchers looked at a range of fasting-based diets, including the 5:2 diet which consists of five days eating ‘normally’ and two days of eating low calorie days which are called fasting days. The report, published by SAGE identifies alternative day fasting to be as effective as or more effective than counting calories every day to lose weight. Previous studies have also shown that it’s easier to adhere to this diet than it is to a general calorie-limiting diet.

If you’ve been even remotely involved in the nutrition or fitness community over the past few years, you at least know the term intermittent fasting (IF). Enthusiasts praise its pattern of orchestrated eating and abstaining for everything from improved immunity to mental clarity and, of course, fast fat loss.IF involves periods of alternately eating and fasting. Beyond that, definitions widely vary.

| E-mail| PrintLast week Thursday I posted this blog about Intermittent Fasting. In it, I mentioned that there are lot’s of weight loss systems out there that work. More often than not, it’s about picking ONE system, following it, and sticking with it long enough to actually see some results.I also gave the link to Precision Nutrition’s founder, Dr John Berardi and his free e-book which gives a lot of information about IF, some different IF approaches, and Dr Berardi’s personal feedback on his successes and struggles with it.On Friday, I posted a follow up blog that gave some reasons why IF probably isn’t ideal for everyone and why.  I also briefly spoke about why I am trying it out myself. So then, which IF methods AM I trying and how is it going? It’s going slowly. Very slowly.
