People have thousands of excuses for why they can’t train, the most popular being a lack of time. That’s why CrossFit is a great option for so many people; the workouts accomplish a lot in a short period. A banner example of this is Tabata intervals. Named after Japanese researcher Izumi Tabata, the intervals follow a 2-to-1 work-to- rest ratio

First is acrylamide, the french fry toxin, the coffee carcinogen, the rat destroyer. It appears in almost every starchy item cooked or roasted at high heat, and it#8217;s classified as a carcinogen. What do we do about it? Do we even have to worry about it? Next up are sprint alternatives for the person who loves to runny really fast every once in awhile but has a herniated disk that becomes aggravated shortly after said sprint. Sprinting is an important, beneficial activity, so long as you can do it pain and injury free, so I try to come up with a few worthy options. Then, I offer some advice to a man with gynoid #8211; or lower […]

This hearty version is made with homemade chicken stock (and cooked chicken) that’s ready in about 30 minutes, to which you can add any vegetables you have on hand./p
pThis chicken stock isn’t quite as nutrient rich as a title=”Cooking with Bones” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/cooking-with-bones/#axzz2Hzs3Rx36″stock that’s simmered for hours/a, but it still tastes so much better than canned stock. Plus, you’ll have enough cooked chicken for the soup and another meal./p
pMinestrone is delicious with only the carrots, cabbage and kale this recipe calls for, but don’t hesitate to throw in other a title=”Edible Veggie Tops” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/edible-veggie-tops/”veggie odds and ends/a from the fridge. Zucchini, broccoli, root vegetables and green beans are all great additions. The more veggies you add, the less likely you […]

You have changed my life and I am enormously grateful to you. I have been struggling with my weight and my mental status surrounding my weight for 20 years. I am 5 feet 6 inches […]

If you know me, then you know one of my hobbies (okay maybe obsession is the right word…) is to read fitness magazines and studies, watch videos, experiment, ect.  There is SO much out there, I like to be ahead of the game and be able to personally speak to what works best for me.  Well, one thing I have been constantly hearing about is Tabata Training.   Blasting fat in only 4 minute workouts?  Hmmm I had to try it.

If you don#8217;t believe me, consider how other mammals handle their kids. You know the old can and string phones we used to make as kids? New chimpanzee parents will string a vine between two empty a title=”The Wonderful World of Coconut Products” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/the-wonderful-world-of-coconut-products/”coconut/a shell halves, placing one half in the baby chimp#8217;s nest in the next tree over and the other half in the parents#8217; nest, allowing them to monitor the baby#8217;s cries and activity during the night. If the baby wakes up, they#8217;ll swing on over to the other tree and produce a hairy teat until the little chimp quiets down. Then it#8217;s back to bed. The first thing […]

Yes, there’s the humorous and rather unfortunate side to this #8211; like the time you ate an entire bag of Twizzlers and threw up all over your great-aunt’s carpet. In addition to the plethora of bad decisions (as if adults don’t make those too), however, there’s the extravagant daring and that amazing, irrepressible exuberance./p
pAs adults, we might know better than to gorge on dye #40, but we’re tripped up by other things. We become distanced, detached from our instincts. The responsibilities, the schedule, the expectations surrounding our culture’s take on maturity can cast us out of the land of exuberance. It’s like we get gradually diverted to a boring Interstate stretch after traveling the scenic route. The road is efficient, utilitarian and might have nicer rest stops, but […]
