Here is one rule I’d let guide you a little bit when taking diet/exercise advice from online docs or gurus: take any advice with a grain of salt if that person does not have the results you’d want for yourself. Now I’m sure the good doctor is healthy as a horse, but I by no means find him to be a fitness expert and he by no means trains for strength or muscle gain. For a better perspective on intermittent fasting, I’d look at the blog LeanGains. He presents some good science and he has had pretty great results. He also has some good evidence of results for his followers.Trying to maximize your GH is going to involve trade offs

John Romaniello (better known as Roman) runs Roman Fitness Systems with a tongue-in-cheek approach to fitness. Equal parts narcissism and self-loathing, Roman writes with passion and humor, show-casing his belief that training doesn’t need to be serious, stern, science-laden monotony. It can be fun, too.Roman stopped by The Fat-Burning Man Show before going on other shows such as Dr Oz, The Colbert Show, and a few other stops in the mainstream media to talk about his new book, Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha. This is a fun show, but let’s put it this way: it’s a bit more “Tucker Max” than “Paul Jaminet.”I already know this show is going to be controversial. If you’re offended by colorful language, what a male at 23 years old has to say about sex (or women in general), or a few other topics that might raise some eyebrows, you may want to skip to the next show. That said, Roman is brutally honest about his transformation from a chubby kid to a model and unapologetically shares his physical, mental and emotional journey with all of us.

It takes a great deal of courage, and gumption, to do that, so there’s a lot to learn from the show if you pay attention.* If you are listening to the podcast, we’ve bleeped out the potty mouth words. In today’s show we talk about:What it’s like to go from being a chubby kid to ripped The head trash that comes along with body transformation (that no one talks about) How you can dramatically improve your life while improving your body And why Tucker Max and Arnold Schwarzenegger say Roman’s book doesn’t suck. | E-mail| PrintHappy weightYesterday’s intro about intermittent fasting got a lot of attention so clearly a lot of you are interested in learning more about it. I hope many of you will take the time to read the free e-book I mentioned which explains everything in great detail. Dr Berardi spent six months testing many different methods before he wrote about it so he is truly speaking from experience.I am going to take the weekend to prepare my next blog about this topic, because it really is important to talk about every angle, positive and negative, and I want to be thorough.I have to say, much of what Dr Berardi explains in his book is spot on and as I have been exploring two of the IF methods it has been so helpful to have his experiences to draw from as reassurance when I am hitting the tough moments. My workouts at the gym have definitely been tough. But I will also say, I have had a lot of pleasant surprises too.In the meantime it’s important to know that IF is definitely not for everyone, and I would not recommend it to anyone unless they had a really good handle on the necessary basics of  nutrition first. If you can’t even stick to a well balanced, clean diet 90% of the time without implementing fasting, you definitely won’t be able to keep a handle on it with IF

Hooray for this HIIT!By Lisa ByrneI’m quite persnickety on what I like to share as a sound fitness plan in the form of a video demonstration. What I like in particular about this video is simple: they offer 3 levels of working out to this high intensity workout. That means that both Boomers and chicky-chicks can do this and everyone in between. The leader does the most intense workout. The gal on the right modifies the leader’s workout.Follow the gal on the left if you have issues to be aware of; want less intensity; or are new to this whole thing. They pretty much get right into the workout, so consider doing a 3 minute warm up yourself.Go get ‘em. « Pick Up Your Posture 1-2-3No comments yetLeave a Reply

High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) comes in a wide variety of forms with every trainer implementing their own ideas on the technique, but the key idea behind this training session remains the same. It involves short sharp high intensity workout periods followed by lower intensity breaks long enough that your body recovers and can perform at high intensities again. Although it is only now becoming a mainstream way of training the H.I.I.T principles have been around for years and implemented by top athletes all over the world. So why now is only just becoming popular

Trainers for years have followed the same idea of long sessions working at a low intensity keeping the heart rate within the ‘Fat Burning Zone’ and although with the correct diet and discipline this can be a very effective method, the long sessions have become unpopular because clients just don’t have enough time.
