Item: Fagor Electric Pressure Cooker +
Price: $89.99
Overall impression: This cooker makes flavorful food fast, and is super quiet while in use. The instruction manual is a little hard to understand, but if you’re familiar with pressure cookers, this shouldn’t be a problem.

This handsome pressure cooker from Fagor has a sleek look with a few more options than just low and high pressure (rice, vegetable, and meat). Are they necessary? I took it through three tests — dried beans, eggs, and chicken — to see how well it performed.

As exciting as it may be to see table after table heaped with colorful fresh, local food during the growing season, it can also be overwhelming. And it’s nearly impossible to eat all the seasonal produce you encounter, unless you’ve got a clan whose hunger and numbers are sizable (and tons of time on your hands). You gotta have a strategy and pick out the things that really count.

So, here’s our take on the exclusive, seasonal, gotta-have-them items you absolutely should buy at the market when you see them.

Celery leaves — known primarily as a throwaway top to an already underappreciated vegetable — are so often discarded. It’s a real shame. Celery leaves are actually a bonus to their stalks and completely virtuous on their own. Here’s everything you need to know about prepping them and turning them into a vibrant pesto.

There’s nothing more appropriate to do with a fresh spring radish than dip it in creamy butter and sharp flakes of salt. It’s a terrific combination and I adore it — which is why we just had to share the Lee Brothers’ clever riff on the classic.

When my husband and I got married, we set up a gift registry, as people do, and filled it with things we thought we’d want for our new life together. At the time, neither one of us had a well-stocked kitchen, so we started from scratch. We looked at what our parents had in the kitchen, we pulled must-have lists out of magazines (well, I did anyway), and then we let our whims guide the scanner around the store. Friends and family were generous, for which I’m still grateful.

It’s been almost 11 years now, and over the past decade we’ve put that registry list to the test. Some of our picks for the kitchen still get used every single day, while others have long been discarded or donated. Here are the five things we’d register for again in a heartbeat (with some tweaks), those we wouldn’t, and what we wish we’d included.

Q: All of my baking sheets, as well as most of my skillets (including All-Clad) have gunk on them that won’t come off. I’ve tried Bar Keepers Friend and they still look gross. Any suggestions?
