When your entire living space is one relatively small room, it can be a big challenge to fit everything you need. While there are spacious studios to be found out there, most of them still use smart solutions to piece together a fully featured kitchen.

Take this vacation rental studio, for example. It might not need a chef’s kitchen, but it does require the basics. It holds one smart solution that we love and can see working in plenty of other kitchens. Take a look at what it is.

Q: We are juicing our limes into airtight bottles and were wondering how long the juice would last, as there are no preservatives being added.

It’s not officially summer quite yet, but the recent temperatures here in New York say otherwise. I decided to take advantage of the early days of strawberry season and cool off with an icy strawberry lassi.

A lassi is a traditional Punjabi drink made with yogurt. The most traditional forms are salty, rather than sweet, and are believed to aid digestion. Sweet lassis often feature mango, sometimes with rosewater. Instead, I whipped up this light and refreshing strawberry lassi to provide some relief on these hot pre-summer days.

Some people like their pizza topped with pepperoni and sausage, others want it smothered with veggies. But have you ever just tried topping your pizza with … more pizza?

Vinnie’s slice shop in Brooklyn, NY, may have just pushed us into another pizza dimension.

It’s that wonderful time of year when bright red strawberries have made their return. They’re soft, sweet, and bursting with flavor — they taste like summer.

Item: Cuisinart CPC-600 Electric Pressure Cooker
Price: $99.95
Overall Impression: With a bright red pressure indicator and easy-to-understand menu options, this pressure cooker is a no-fuss way to make great food fast.

Cuisinart is a big name in small electric appliances, including electric pressure cookers. This is their standard electric pressure cooker. It promises to cut cooking times by up to 70%, but is this machine intuitive enough for a newbie to pressure cooking? How will the food actually taste?

“Tell Kenny to go get the van.”

A competitor was having a sale on Coca-Cola. The price was something crazy, like $1.99 for a 12-pack, limit 10 per customer. (Please don’t hold me to that price. It’s been a decade.) The point is, the box store was selling soft drinks to their customers at a price that was way lower than we could buy it direct. We loaded up our catering van and stocked our shelves with as many cases of Coke as we could get during that sale. Desperate? Yes. Moral? Well…

Prices deviate between stores for a myriad of reasons, and a higher price on the same item doesn’t mean that store is trying to get rich off of you. (I’ve never seen a grocery store owner in Burberry.) Here are a few reasons you may find price differences as you shop around. It’s not all apples to apples. (Or milk to milk.)
