Thanksgiving by Heart

No, I don’t embrace sitting at the kids’ table — just its existence. I get plenty of kid time, every single day. But on holidays, I’m happy for the younger crowd to have a table, a whole room even, of their own. I have fond memories of the kids’ table in Nana’s parlor, including a rip-roaring Thanksgiving involving two Russian exchange students and more than a few nips of Nana’s vodka. I ask myself is soaking of brazil nuts will just also wash out the selenocysteine out of the nuts. because this is water soluble. In that case the brazil nuts are worthless as selenium delivering food.

I guess there is no evidence about that?! We only think about soaking helps with phytates but why should it only lead to decreases of phytates? All water soluble minerals and vitamins could be lost by soaking?!

I bet there was no research done so how do we know?

Hi Maria. I just used a Holland and Barrett chewable Papaya Enzyme. They worked really well. I don’t need them anymore but I took them for about six months after every meal. My digestion was zero after taking the PPI as it took away all my stomach acid. I also take Quest Acidophilus. I still take those as the keep the friendly bacteria populated in the digestive system.
