I love how easy it is to find naan bread nowadays, from the fresh ones at Whole Foods to the frozen garlic naan at Trader Joe’s. Lately this soft Indian flatbread has been my go-to base for sandwiches and, to my pleasant surprise, pizzas. Here’s a tasty pizza inspired by one of my favorite Indian dishes, saag paneer.

Oh, summer! Short shorts and long nights, beach days and bike rides — for three months, life just feels more buoyant and carefree. Except when there are bugs to contend with. As it turns out, I am an absolute bug magnet. Mosquitos and midges, black flies and bees, gnats and no-see-ems — they all love me and whatever it is I’m eating or drinking. And that puts a real damper on my outdoor fun.
Short of running for shelter, how can I keep those bugs away? Can you help?

If you haven’t already noticed, The Kitchn is getting a major facelift. Not only are we in the middle of a redesign (that’s right!), we also hired our first ever Art Director, Samantha Bolton, to create a cohesive look for the site and tell our stories in a more visual way. Maxwell Ryan founded Apartment Therapy Media 12 years ago, when blogs and websites and this whole “internet thing” were relatively nascent. He was originally a teacher at a Waldorf school in New York, where he found that design and the home space had a great impact on his students. He took this passion and created a space online that would help people live better lives. In other words, none of this would be possible without him.
