The pressure cooker makes long-cooked dishes like curries possible on a weeknight. If you also want to keep the slicing and dicing to a minimum, partner with your freezer so chicken curry can be on your table in just about 30 minutes whenever that craving hits.

Last week it was announced that Mary Berry is quitting The Great British Bake Off in light of the switch from BBC to Channel 4. Berry was known for her firm yet kind demeanor with the contestants, and there will definitely be a gap on the next season of the show in her absence. Who could ever replace her? Let’s try to figure that out ahead of time.

Here are eight people I think could potentially take over for Mary Berry. Most of these people are British, and none of them are too mean (I’m looking at you, Gordon Ramsay). Vote now in our poll and see who is in the lead!

20 Cooks, 20 Knives: This month, we’re taking a close look at a chef’s most important tool: her knife. We asked 20 cooks, amateurs and professionals, to share their favorite knives and the stories behind them. While chef’s knives are featured prominently, no two are exactly alike, and there are also a few surprises.

A mother of three and the owner of Homegrown Foods, an organic meal-kit delivery service in the Twin Cities, Aleks Till is pretty much always cooking. More often than not, her favorite knife can be found in her sink rather than the knife block on her counter, as it’s in constant use.

Why are Mondays so hard? And do they really have to be? We asked five successful women — an actress, an author, a chemist, a philanthropist, and a budding surgeon — to share their secrets on how they make the first day of the week just a little bit easier.

Actress, mom, vampire slayer — these are all titles that Sarah Michelle Gellar has held at one point or another. But did you also know that she’s an entrepreneur? Last year, Sarah Michelle launched Foodstirs with mom friends Galit Laibow and Gia Russo. With seven different products that promise Pinterest-worthy treats in six steps or less, the company seeks to make memorable experiences for families through baking — but if you don’t have children, there are plenty of cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops you’ll want to keep all to yourself.

The point is, from rebooting Cruel Intentions to overseeing a food startup, all while keeping her family well-fed (with some help from Freddie), Sarah Michelle is busy. So what’s her secret to making it through the week — and Mondays, in particular?

Once fall arrives, going apple picking is one of the first activities I plan with my friends. I love walking through orchards with the crisp fall air around me and plenty of homemade apple cider doughnuts for snacking, but the best part of apple picking is the bounty I get to bring home.

Apples are delicious eaten straight out of hand, but they also have the ability to swing savory or sweet in recipes. I can’t go a whole season without making a pie (and we do have some tasty recipes for those), but there’s so much more you can do with apples. Here are 15 ideas that might just inspire you to fill up two bags of apples at the orchard instead of one.

Fall has arrived, and with it comes the return of pasta bakes. Pasta, sauce, and cheese, baked until it’s all warm and melty — what could be more comforting on a chilly evening?

The French have a way of making everything, even ordinary, mundane things, seem chic and exotic. Case in point: coffee. While most of the world is content to drink our coffee out of mugs, it’s common in France to drink café (and tea and hot chocolate) from a bowl. It’s so simple and yet so charming — there’s something almost nostalgic about grabbing a bowl with both hands.

Practically speaking, there are advantages, too. A bowl is (generally) bigger, which means more coffee and easier dipping for your croissant. Not to mention, drinking your coffee from a bowl also negates the need for those mugs. (Marie Kondo would approve).
