Everyone should row. And everyone can row. This is a fact my boat club’s champions beautifully demonstrate. The members of Molesey Boat Club stretch from 14 to 84, and their fastest rowers stand top of Olympic podiums. Not everyone is tall and, I assure you, not all can row a sub-6 minute 2k. But we all share a passion for the sport and the movement.

The transition. It’s one of the most unique aspects of triathlon that you just don’t get with other sports. Although for some it’s simply a chance to take a short break before moving on to the next leg, for others it is more important and doing it well could decide the outcome of a race. Regardless which camp you fall into, having a transition built upon solid fundamentals will help reduce race-day stress and set you up for overall success out on the course.

The concept of fairness has become perverted to excuse every misstep, lower standards, and discredit the efforts of the exceptional.

Youth sports and academics across the country are experiencing an epidemic that is systematically lowering the bar of expected performance. Parents, teachers, and coaches have always been berated with lines like “that’s not fair, its too hard”, or “that isn’t fair, (enter name here) gets to do it.” All good leaders in the classroom and on the field put long-term benefits over a child’s immediate desires. They ignore the urge to “be cool” and instead opt to foster discipline and willpower.
