I love a good no-bake cookie because they often come with the promise of a short ingredient list, with chocolate taking the lead. These sweet bites from Dorie Greenspan deliver such a treat. Perfect for Christmas, Hanukkah, Passover, and all the days before, after, and in between, these morsels are spun together from melted chocolate, a bit of butter, and crushed matzo cookies.

Wine glasses can be confusing. Beyond the basics — with stems or without, white wine and red wine — there are glasses for specific varietals. A Cabernet glass is different from a Bordeaux glass, and while most white wine glasses are more tapered, a Burgundy glass (ideal for Chardonnay and Gruner Veltliner) has a very generous bowl. Who can keep all that straight?

But here’s a little secret I’ll let you in on: None of this matters, when it comes to how much wine to pour. Practically every wine glass has a simple way of showing you how much wine it should hold; once you see it you’ll see how obvious it is!

Could the potential cure for diabetes and obesity be as simple as protein?

Obesity and diabetes rates in the U.S. have increased steadily over the last two decades. Now, the country has reached an alarming high of people dealing with metabolic disorders—as many as 29 million Americans are diabetics, and a staggering 36.5% are obese, according to the CDC1. However, a team of Belgian researchers may have just found a potential cure in the form of a simple protein.

Some people may call them dogs, clodhoppers, and piggly wigglys but I like to keep it simple and just call them my feet. They are so important for locomotion that the first shoes were fashioned out of animal skins 5,000,000 years ago during the Ice Age just to protect them. Since then, some of the most advanced technology in the world has been directed toward footwear, so that 25% of the bones in our body can perform and be protected.

A countless number of meals have been prepared via slow cooker and served up deliciously warm and cozy around my kitchen table. Cooking with a slow cooker has become a staple for active families because of the set-and-forget ease in which a delicious home cooked meal comes together.

A few weeks back when the Olympics were in the news, I wrote a piece comparing two great Olympians: Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps. One comment on that article reminded me that I should be looking at another event in order to determine the best Olympian in history.
