I cried for a few weeks after I changed to a plant-based diet. Changing my diet actually helped me avoid getting a hysterectomy, but that wasn’t enough to stop me from blubbering about my new way of eating. I thought I’d never be satisfied. I loved all things cheese and steak frites and thought I was sentenced to a life of brown rice and steamed broccoli.

Do you live on a Halloween street? The kind that attracts trick-or-treaters from all over town? I do, and preparing for October 31 is no joke. One year we spent over $100 on candy. (This included an urgent, mid-evening run to CVS when the bottom of our plastic pumpkin appeared. Not recommended.)

This year I did a lot of work in advance to figure out how to fill your caldron without emptying your wallet. Here’s where you should be shopping.

That woman sprinting in heels to the frozen food section at 5 p.m.? That’s me when I forget to plan something for dinner. I’m a working single mom with three kids, and I’ve definitely been known to heat up a couple of frozen pizzas, bust out the paper plates, and eat in front of the television with my kiddos. But honestly, my brood has never actually loved frozen pizza night. They complain the crust is too soggy and tell me my homemade pizza is way better.

As much as I love a compliment, I also love easy meals — and I refuse to give up on frozen pizza night. So when I saw a hack claiming to be “the best way to cook frozen pizza,” I had to try it out.

If you didn’t get around to making caramel apples, but can’t imagine Halloween without them, here’s an even easier version you can dip and eat in no time. These sweet apple rounds blanketed with a sticky-sweet layer of rich caramel (sprinkles and M&Ms optional!) are proof that the most fun and festive Halloween treats can also be quick and easy.

Turns out, the most-pinned pantry of all time comes from our sister site, Apartment Therapy. How cool is that? (See it here: This Is Apartment Therapy’s Most-Pinned Pantry.)

However, this pantry by Mallory — half of the team at the blog Classy Clutter — is hot on its heels! With 184,000 saves (and gaining!), it’s the top trending pantry on Pinterest right now, and for good reason: It’s so stinking cute!

Anthony Bourdain has a lot of very strong opinions. He hates Johnny Rockets, Unicorn Frappuccinos, the third slice of bread in the middle of a club sandwich, and people who put too much soy sauce on sushi. One thing he loves, though, is a really good chef’s knife, and it turns out he’s remained pretty loyal to one over the years.

My love for classic ground beef tacos — you know, the kind with the signature seasoning pack, topped with crunchy romaine, chopped tomatoes, and bright-orange cheddar — runs deep. Until recently, I didn’t think there was any way to top them. But then I took all the elements that make them so amazing and turned them into a weeknight casserole. It has a cheesy beef and bean base laced with warm spices, and then is topped as a classic taco should be, with lettuce, tomato, and creamy Greek yogurt.

If you happen to have plans to be in or around Charleston, South Carolina the weekend of November 10, you will be in luck. Not only is historic Charleston extra pretty that time of year, but it’s also where you’ll be able to find a massive flea-market-style sale on Le Creuset items.

(Not planning on being there during that time? Perhaps you should look into making some travel arrangements. Just an idea.)
