Most of us grew up learning about things that our state is known for, like the state bird, flower, and tree. But did you know states have favorite Halloween candies too? This map will not only show you which candies come out on top in your state, but also how many pounds of it are consumed each year.

There’s everything from Swedish Fish and Skittles to Tootsie Roll Pops and candy corn (over 146,000 pounds each year in Michigan).

Want to see how your state ranks? Well, right this way.

If you have a food allergy, Halloween is a great holiday to make you feel left out. For example: The house on the corner is giving out king-sized Snickers bars? Cool — but I’m super allergic to peanuts!

Fortunately we have the Teal Pumpkin Project, which encourages people to provide trick-or-treaters non-edible goodies in dedicated teal pumpkins. Want to be a neighborhood hero this Halloween? We tapped Nancy Gregory, senior director of communications at FARE, for her tips on the most fun and affordable goodies to give out to kids with allergies.

Lately I just can’t seem to get enough of celebrity homes — or more specifically, celebrity kitchens. First there was Beyoncé, and then there was Mary Berry. Is it because they’re celebrities? No, I mean, that’s a fun bonus, but really it’s because my own kitchen is in the middle of a remodel and I don’t want to leave anything awesome out so I keep peeking at other folks’ digs.

Often when I scope out other people’s homes, I immediately dissect the living space to determine if it would fit my own personal needs. Many times they seem stuffy, but when it comes to the house that Katy Perry recently put on the market for a cool $9.45 million, I’m tempted to ditch my own place and just move right in.

This chocolate cookie is a master of many disguises, all tucked into the guise of a quite specific purpose. It is a roll-out cookie that is made with a dough you will simply love to work with. It’s crazy forgiving, re-rollable, re-chillable, and re-freezable. What makes it so versatile and, yes, masterful is that it also tastes like cocoa without being bitter or insanely sweet and bakes up soft in the middle (orwith the most incredible crackly crisp with a little more oven time).

It’s great as a foil for holiday cookies decorated with sweet icing, frostings, sprinkles, and sugars galore or terrific as a crunchy ice cream sandwich base. It’s also sturdy enough to build a gingerbread-style haunted house.

The trickiest thing about organizing a pantry is that you house all kinds of stuff in there, from little treats to bulk grains to big unwieldy things like the serving platters that don’t fit in your regular cabinets.

I think that’s why this smart trick is the top-pinned pantry organizing hack on Pinterest. It offers a solution on how to deal with those little, oddly shaped drink mixes and soup packets that won’t stack, but are sort of too small to contain in a big bin. And honestly, having a bunch of little bins can be as annoying as just having the stuff loose.

S’mores bars are one of my all-time favorite recipes. I’ve been baking and taking these treats to family get-togethers, backyard barbecues, block parties, and bake sales for going on 15 years. Imagine the flavors of fire roasted s’mores — crispy graham crackers, gooey marshmallow, and creamy chocolate — packed into a bar that includes a chewy cookie-like crust and the golden-crisp exterior of a fresh-roasted marshmallow all in one tidy bar that you could eat anywhere.

Yes, s’mores bars have all the hallmarks of a classic cookie bar, partnered with the can’t-beat flavor of this classic campfire treat, making it your new all-time favorite recipe too.
