There’s no doubt about it, having a disease stinks. Most of the time we use an expression like that figuratively. But what if health care providers could use odor to detect illness in its earliest stages so that adverse medical conditions could be prevented and reversed? Imagine, for example, if Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and diabetes could […]

Green tea has numerous benefits, but now science tells us that more may not necessarily be better. It turns out green tea extract, found in many over-the-counter weight-loss powders, pills and liquid supplements, has raised concerns about increased risk of liver damage. If you’re making your turkey in a foil pan this year for the ease of cleanup it promises, there’s one smart tip you need to make this cooking method not only easier on yourself but also just smarter overall. Marie Kondo has totally changed the way I view my home and all the “stuff” I have accumulated over the years. You see, I’m generally a pretty sentimental person, so normally things like pants that don’t fit me would be “hard” to donate or throw away because memories. And even though I’m not a perfect Kondo follower by any means, she’s helped me understand my relationship with objects and organizing in ways that have had a huge impact on my life. I know, super corny, but it’s true.
All this is to say that I’ll basically read or watch Marie Kondo do anything because she is so inspiring and thoughtful in everything she does. This is exactly why we asked her to visit our office and show us a thing or two on small ways to organize in the kitchen. Watch these videos and feel at peace.

Taking whipped cream to holiday meals is great, but depending on what time you arrive at a party and what time dinner is served, it often deflates or weeps all over your dessert in the refrigerator. Sure, you can make it seconds before you’re serving, but that doesn’t always fit in the schedule. Instead, try this small trick to make it hold up through the night and even into the next few days.

It’s been nearly a decade since my mother has attended a family Thanksgiving dinner. She stopped speaking to her mother and siblings when I was still a teenager, for reasons that remain important to her — reasons that I respect and empathize with but might never fully grasp myself.

At any summer BBQ, office potluck, Super Bowl party, or Thanksgiving dinner, the dish always scraped clean is the one that held macaroni and cheese. I have my standard stovetop and my go-to baked cheesy mac recipes down to a science, but when it comes to serving friends and family who live the vegan life, I have always come up short.
Over the years my sister and aunt have embraced vegetarianism to different degrees and for varying lengths of time. As a result, we have served tofurkey alongside turducken, and vegan gravy and stuffed acorn squash are now always part of my family’s holiday menu. This year I am building on our ultimate vegan cashew cream to make a vegan macaroni and cheese that is smooth, creamy, and cheesy.
