On a recent trip to Italy, I fell in love with sun-dried tomatoes. I have to admit that before my Italian trip, I found sun-dried tomatoes to be too chewy and lacking in flavor. But then on a whim in Rome I bought a little jar of partially-dried tomatoes to bring back to the United States and I had a revelation: sun-dried tomatoes can be delicious if you get the right brand. These Italian tomatoes were so flavorful (and yes, still a little chewy) that they perked up everything from a seemingly boring salad to chicken dinners.

Day 319 Of 360

5 rounds of:

10 Kettlebell front rack lunge @ as heavy as possible in each set
2 Turkish Get-up @ 1/2 of above (1L, 1R)
(Up to) 1 minute rest

Turkish Get-up is to be performed with one of two kettlebells carried in the lunge. If at designated rep scheme one lift significantly imbalances the other, we have identified an addressable “hole in the boat”. As always, position and range of motion govern weight in both movements.

If you are looking to get the health benefits of medical marijuana, but without getting high, then CBD oil may be the right choice for you. In recent years, there’s been a budding recognition regarding the medicinal properties of cannabis. For those of you who enjoy a glass of wine or two over dinner, take heart: a new study presented at the recent American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting suggests that it might be helping you live longer. The findings, presented as part of a 15-year study to better understand the factors behind […]

Seemingly, you do everything right. You eat sensibly and reach the American Heart Association’s recommended 75 minutes of vigorous exercise and 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week. But what about those other 9,855 minutes? After eight hours of sleep, we are still left with 7,755 waking minutes.

It is increasingly possible to navigate life without ever moving. This disturbing reality whacked me over the head when I heard my two-year-old nephew bossing Google around. “Hey Google, play Sesame Street.”

This weekend I’m heading to Chicago for the annual International Home + Housewares Show, where I will get to see all sorts of new blenders, coffee makers, kitchen tools, cleaning supplies, and more. (I’ll be writing about the best of what I see, so be sure to check back early next week!) Like clockwork, this show is also when KitchenAid typically reveals their newest colors for stand mixers. This year, however, the company gave us all little preview.

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, we didn’t expect much from paper plates and napkins, except that they (hopefully) held slices of pizza and cake. The days of sheer utility, however, are long gone. Disposable paper goods and plastic utensils that we not-so-secretly covet in a more permanent form can be found at multiple retailers.

Sometimes, though, those Instagram-worthy pieces come with a hefty price tag — and it’s hard to justify spending big money on stuff that’s just gonna get thrown away. That’s why we were so excited to discover this Sugar & Cloth collection that’s being sold exclusively on Amazon right now.

Since December, Jennifer Garner has been channeling her inner Barefoot Contessa and posting the most heart-warming videos of herself cooking on Facebook. Called “The Pretend Cooking Show,” Jennifer’s homemade videos are nowhere near the production value of Ina Garten’s shows, but her videos certainly have the same heart.

I remember watching the video the first time and immediately wondering what Ina thought about these videos. Was she secretly annoyed that people were comparing the two of them? Did she actually like the videos? Was she a little jealous? It turns out Ina’s response to the videos are the most Ina thing ever.

The Starbucks drive-thru is enormously convenient, but it’s not always the quickest option when you’re in a hurry. Often it seems as through the Starbucks drive-thru is actually slower than going into the store. That’s especially true during peak periods, when there’s often a line of a dozen cars of people waiting for coffee and breakfast sandwiches on their way to work.

I have a personal rule when it comes to my kids: I always say yes when they ask to help with cooking. I don’t always invite them to help with dinner, but if they peek their head in the door and ask to help I always say yes. Sometimes that means dinner takes 10, 15, even 20 minutes longer to get on the table, but we always learn something — even if it’s just to make sure the lid is tightly sealed on the paprika.

My 6-year-old has fully embraced being my sous-chef-in-training and cooks along with me two or three nights a week. Here are 10 of our go-to dinner recipes to cook together.
