Lemons are always a good thing to have around. A squirt of lemon juice adds tartness and brightens flavors in everything from cocktails to vegetables, and you can even use them to clean practically everything in your kitchen. When the weather starts to warm up, I basically want everything to be lemon-flavored. It’s time for lemonade, lemon candy, and especially lemon cake.

Our friends over at Apartment Therapy ran this adorable House Tour, which they called “the most livable tiny house” they’ve ever seen. They weren’t exaggerating. The whole space is only 160 square feet, and yet it actually seems like something we might all be able to live in (not together, obviously). It feels so possible because the place is very thoughtfully laid out and organized — especially the kitchen.

Here are five smart organizing tips we got just by looking at the photos. Keep them in mind for your own space, whether it’s tiny or not.

Remember a few years ago, when your Paleo-eating, Crossfit-obsessed friends invited you over for cauliflower crust pizza? And as you forced a smile through one damp, flavorless mouthful after another, you thought this will never catch on.

Um, yeah, it seems to have actually caught on. Trader Joe’s and Costco both sell their own cauli-crusts, California Pizza Kitchen has made it a permanent menu addition, and even my fave local pizza joint offers it as a semi-regular special.

Next to the freezer aisle, the refrigerated case of dips is the second greatest section at any Trader Joe’s. It holds fast-and-fancy apps for when friends come over, and easy snacks to have on hand when the hungries hit. Look past the classic hummus and you’ll find a selection of dips that will make you swoon.

Here are the best dips to buy at Trader Joe’s.

I’ve seen so many profiles on buzzy chefs lauded for their messy, unpretentious, kinda rock-and-roll attitude towards food. The vibe is always cool-kid boys club, typically populated by young or youngish guys, all sporting a charming glower, a few tattoos, and the ability to quote Kitchen Confidential.

But what if this nonchalant, leather-jacket-sporting approach was actually inspired by two devil-may-care British women in their 60s?

Pasta salads are infinitely flexible, delicious, and ready be dressed up. When I get a crush on a cheese or a vegetable, the pasta salad plays impresario, showing off its charms. But I can get easily carried away; if goat cheese, why not Parmesan too? A handful of dried fruit, toasted pecans, three cruciferous vegetables, and a gilding of bacon, and pretty soon we’re in the third ring of a salad circus.

While elaborate salads are delightful, there are times, like right now in picnic season, when it is better to strip it down to the basics and keep it simple. This reader favorite has a mere handful of ingredients, but they’re winners — feta, olives, snap-tender broccoli, and colorful pasta. This is the easy pasta salad party you need this week.

I’ve moved a lot in my 31 years. Since I left home for college, I’ve had a new apartment approximately every six months — and usually, new roommates, too. In total, I’ve cohabitated with 42 different humans.

Along with those humans came dozens of different kitchens — so as an avid home cook, I quickly learned to streamline the coupling and uncoupling of saucepans, spices, and spoons. Whether your new roomie is only for a few months or for forever, these time-tested tricks should make the kitchen merging (and breakup) process go much more smoothly.

Kitchn’s Delicious Links column highlights recipes we’re excited about from the bloggers we love. Follow along every weekday as we post our favorites.

Since I write about food for a living, it’s not really cool when I don’t like a common ingredient. Other people can have preferences for what they do and don’t like (as long as olives and pickles aren’t on the “no” list, I’m sorry), but I’m “supposed” to eat everything.

This is why I used to keep my aversion to sun-dried tomatoes mostly under wraps. I ate them when I had to; I chewed through the leathery, sad versions that I found on pizza and salads and wondered why people put up with this overrated ingredient.

And then I went to Rome last October, and wow. After accidentally ordering something with sun-dried tomatoes again (oops), I realized that whatever “sun-dried tomatoes” I had before were sad excuses for the real deal. Good sun-dried tomatoes can transform a meal from average to special, and that’s why they’re my weeknight meal obsession.
