When it comes to nonstick skillets, we have a few horror stories of inexpensive, first-apartment type purchases that flaked into our scrambled eggs or failed to do the whole “non” part of “nonstick” altogether. A good nonstick skillet? Well, one of those can get the job done for years and years.

Which brings us to this Calphalon 10-inch Contemporary Omelette Pan. Not only is it one of our favorites, but it’s also currently 60 percent off on Amazon.

Pork chops have a regular spot in my meal plan rotation. They cook quickly on the stovetop and in the oven, but some nights I’m happy to opt for a lengthy cook time in return for the mostly hands-off process promised by my slow cooker.

And the secret to really great slow cooker pork chops starts with picking up the right cut from the grocery store. Here’s what you should be buying.

I’ve been reading Heidi Swanson’s blog, 101 Cookbooks, since before food blogs were a thing. It’s long been one of my go-tos for meat-free, veggie-heavy meals that are both nourishing and super tasty. So it should come as no surprise that I learned the most amazing tip from her latest cookbook for preparing tofu.

I love to bake. I’ll bake for birthdays, holidays, parties, and random Wednesdays — as long as I have time. Unfortunately, I don’t always have 40 minutes to make from-scratch chocolate chip cookies or an afternoon to devote to making my famous pecan pie. But a gathering has to have a dessert, right?

There are plenty of times when things are just too busy and I have to fall back on the store-bought stuff. And honestly, no one ever seems to mind. For one, it’s not like my friends and family would demand that I pull an all-nighter to make them a three-layer cake. I also have a roster of really good (like, really good) store-bought treats that always impress. I’ll pull out a fancy platter and call it a day. (Note: I never take credit for the baking, though — that would be unethical!)

Here are some of my go-to store-bought treats.

Packing up to move is the worst — and the kitchen just may be the trickiest space of your whole house because of all those small, fragile items you have to carefully wrap and contain. On the flip side of that: Unpacking in your new-to-you kitchen (as long as nothing’s broken) is just about the best. I know, because we just moved into a new house and we got to start all over — yay!

Starting fresh in a new place is an opportunity to really make that space work for you. So before you unpack, do these six things to make sure you’re getting the most out of it!

The British have a thing about homemade birthday cakes. Even mothers who don’t often bake will once a year struggle with fondant and food colorings to create novelty cakes in the shape of soccer pitches or Disney princesses for their little darlings.

And it’s not just for kids — we love to celebrate every family birthday with something fresh from the oven and triumphantly frosted.

Kitchn’s Delicious Links column highlights recipes we’re excited about from the bloggers we love. Follow along every weekday as we post our favorites.

Shorts weather is upon us, which means there’s asparagus and radishes and a whole bunch of spring produce that I should want to eat right now. We wait all winter for something that feels a little more fresh, right?

As food writers and editors we tend to write about food seasonally, but when I saw this recipe for a garlic butter tomato baked chicken from Little Spice Jar, I threw all of that aside because it looks like a dream dinner. Seriously, I can’t stop looking at the photos that accompany this recipe and planning my attack.

Chicken covered in cheese? Oh hell yes. Out-of-season tomatoes that are roasted in a bunch of balsamic vinegar and olive oil? Gimme!
