Few things aggravate my vegan friends as much as when there’s tasty vegan food available at an event, but it’s so good the non-vegans rush in and eat it all up right at the beginning, leaving only cheesy pizzas and sausage links behind on the buffet. I worry that is about to happen to them again, because there’s a new vegan ice cream made out of avocados, and my non-vegan self is absolutely dying to try it.

Hard to be believe just three weeks ago we began this summer Challenge. Over the last three weeks, people shared their individual goals, wins, questions, and stumbling blocks in our comment boards, on the Vimify app, and in the Facebook groups. As always, I’ve loved the energy of it and appreciated hearing from folks who may not share as frequently. It’s good to know you’re here, and I hope you keep coming back.
I’m excited today to share our contest winners—including our Grok pose champ, our Big Ass salad winner, and, yes, our Grand Prize taker below. And the winners are…
The people have spoken, and the winning Grok Pose of 2018 belongs to Sam Poland. Congratulations, Sam, and thanks to everyone who submitted their photos this year. I have to say, this remains my favorite contest, and I love the creativity behind it.
And now on to this year’s randomly chosen winner for the Big-Ass Salad Contest…. Congratulations to Bekah—and the dog who apparently also enjoys a good salad.

We received a lot of entries for this one, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t share a few more. Consider them BAS goals—and maybe a little inspiration for today’s lunch.

The world is still grieving the sudden and tragic death of Anthony Bourdain three weeks ago. He was an icon in the food world, and he inspired millions of people to think more about food, travel, and other people. Now it looks like there will be a new book about Anthony Bourdain coming out next year, and it’s described as an “oral biography” full of stories from the people closest to him.

“I love having summer parties but it’s gotten harder to plan a menu now that it feels like everyone is on a special diet,” Ina Garten wrote on Instagram just before Memorial Day. “Dessert can be especially tricky, but I always try to make one that everyone can eat.”
A little over a month later, she’s posted her always-anticipated July 4 menu and — thank goodness! — it includes a delicious gluten-free dessert option too. (Actually, there are two gluten-free dessert options, if you can find or make your own graham crackers, sans gluten).

Supermarket bouquets are notorious for being a hodgepodge of flowers that don’t necessarily look great together. But even if you’re not a pro, it’s actually super easy to turn one inexpensive bunch into a series of beautiful arrangements. So skip the extra trip to the florist shop, and instead grab some cheap blooms while you do the rest of your grocery shopping.

Here’s my motto for backyard BBQs: Let the sides be many, and let them be simple. The main dish might be an impressive rack of saucy ribs, but a generous spread of salad, slaws, and summery sides is always the hit of the party. From summertime classics like corn on the cob and potato salad to tangy slaw and pasta salad, here are 20 easy side dishes to serve up for BBQs all season long.

Having a baby often makes you rethink the cleaning products you’ve been using — and also makes you suddenly aware of a whole host of things you haven’t been cleaning that you now want to have germ-free. Add to that baby’s super-sensitive skin and quite a few gadgets you didn’t have before, and it turns out new moms need a ton of new cleaning products.
With that said, here are the cleaning supplies my friends and I bought and loved when we became new moms. You obviously don’t need to buy them all — my hope is just that you’ll find a thing (or three!) that work for you.
