The only thing harder than coming up with the cash for a Vitamix is figuring out which one to buy. Seriously. There are so many options! And their model names are so darn confusing. What do people have against names like Vitamix Regular Fancy and Vitamix Extra Fancy? Names like that would make things so much easier!

We decided to take matters into our own hands and come up with a definitive guide to all the options to help you see clearly which one’s perfect for you.

Thousands of vegetarian recipe accounts exist on YouTube. Some are focused on whole foods, others showcase whatever “wellness” means at the moment, and some are all the way vegan and plant-based. Somewhere in the middle of all this is my forever veg-inspiration: Green Kitchen Stories.

Have you ever eaten a snack at a friend’s house and decided instantly that it must be from Trader Joe’s? I know it’s happened to me at least a few times. Kaitlin Flannery, our Senior Social Media Manager, set out a bowl of gochujang almonds when I was at her house (painting her kitchen cabinets) and, without even thinking, I asked her what else she got when she was at TJ’s. And a similar thing happened when a friend served pickle-flavored popcorn during a party. (What? I’m curious! And it’s technically my job to find out!)

See, Trader Joe’s is known for — among plenty of other things — its wacky assortment of fun, interesting, and flavorful snacks. In fact, we’ve got loads of posts dedicated just to the snacks at Trader Joe’s. So imagine my surprise when I served an Aldi find to our Food Director, Hali Bey Ramdene, and she didn’t believe me when I told her where it came from.

Ree Drummond’s house is basically Candy Land, but Queen Frostine never had anything like the next-level ice cream sandwiches the Pioneer Woman keeps in her freezer. Where most people would buy ice cream sandwiches at the store, Ree goes the extra mile and makes them herself with glazed doughnuts, sprinkles, and chocolate drizzle. They’re really something to see.

Ask any Tex-pat what they miss most about the Lone Star State and, more often than not, they’ll bemoan the loss of their beloved H-E-B. Based out of San Antonio, Texas, H-E-B was originally founded in 1909 and now boasts over 350 stores spread throughout the state. It is Texans’ go-to grocery for fresh produce, hot and cold prepared foods, as well as numerous Texas-made packaged goods marked with the tell-tale “Go Texan” stamp of approval.

Within the last year, Costco has become one of my favorite places to shop — especially when I’m looking to save money on healthy and organic foods. Surprisingly one of the best ways to do just that, I’ve found, is to shop the frozen food section at Costco. It’s actually the area I head to first!

I firmly believe every Taco Tuesday needs a solid taco slaw — one that’s crisp and refreshing, just a bit creamy, and works with any filling you have on the roster for the night. Consider this your go-to recipe from here on out. Crunchy red cabbage and sweet carrots combine with spicy jalapeños and chopped fresh cilantro, and the whole mess is tossed with just a bit of mayo for creaminess and a big squeeze of lime juice for tang.

It’s simple and straightforward — ready to complement any kind of taco, be it chicken, shrimp, beef, or black bean.

Last Thanksgiving, we were especially grateful for our smoke alarms. No, we didn’t burn the turkey, as you may have suspected! Our chimney malfunctioned when we tried to light a fire in the fireplace, and started to spread smoke through the house. Our neighbor, who is a fireman, heard the alarms and ran across the street to scoop the fire into a bucket and run it outside, inspiring hero-worship among my kids and their cousins.

Shortly after, the street was filled with fire trucks and my home was filled with fireman and industrial fans. Fortunately, everything was fine. The kids thought it was pretty much the best day ever. They even got to sit in a fire truck! And we were grateful that the alarms warned us to get out of the house and start reacting before the adults even realized it was a problem.

But sometimes the smoke alarm goes off for seemingly no reason. And that can be both worrisome and just plain annoying. So if your fire alarm is constantly going off, do some investigating to see if it’s because of one of these reasons.

When soaked in garlic and shallot-infused olive oil and tossed with lots of fresh herbs, plump white beans transform into a delicious multi-purpose dish. Bring them to a picnic, pile them onto thick slices of toast for dinner, or toss with cooked grains for a hearty and satisfying lunch.

This is just the kind of staple worth having on hand all summer long, when light, no-cook meals are the priority and effortless eating is on everyone’s mind. These beans let you quit worrying about what’s for lunch or dinner so that you can spend more time lounging on the porch.
