Watching cooking competitions on television like Chopped is one thing, but actually being in a real kitchen stadium and seeing, smelling, and even tasting what the chefs are making? File that under amazing. I just attended the Barilla Pasta World Championship in Milan, Italy, and saw 18 chefs from around the world compete in the ultimate carb-cooking contest.

The championship is the Olympics in pasta cooking, complete with lots of patriotic flag waving and a gold trophy for the winner. This year’s winning chef, Carolina Diaz from Chicago (the United States also won last year!), sweated and cooked her way to victory and also gave me an awesome tip that I plan to use when cooking pasta from now on.

Eggs, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt, granola and chocolate cake? Hmm, the first five items on that list certainly sound like breakfast foods but the chocolate cake? Someone must be playing a joke right? Not! To my surprise, I recently discovered that there is mounting evidence supporting the consumption of chocolate cake for breakfast. Great news […]

Whether or not you’re planning on hosting Thanksgiving dinner, now is a great time to give your oven a little overhaul. I’ve already shown you how to clean your oven with a mix of baking soda and vinegar. And now, we’re going to tackle those oven racks and rid them of any grime so that they don’t mar your newly cleaned oven. It’s easy to do, and a project you can take on right alongside your oven cleaning!

If you have a bathtub and dishwasher detergent, you are set. The hardest part about this process is the inactive time, but it’s worth it: The soaking of the racks aids in softening up the accumulated gunk, making it easier to wipe and gently scrub off. I barely had to use any force, and my racks are now cleaner than they have been in years.

Coffee tastes bitter, and it definitely makes me jittery. Yuck. Keep it. I don’t want to be dependent on it.

I wouldn’t bother worrying about this kind of stuff at all. The linear no safe threshold of radiation has been disproven. And doses of up to 0.1 sieverts are nothing to worry about.

The contrast agents surely add greatly to the risk. Gadolinium has got to be toxic, and triiodobenzene would form free radicals. Combine these with ionizing radiation and…yikes!

My 18 yo son literally had a ct scan done today…
I think one of the keys to protecting yourself is detoxification before and after the scan.
I use TRS , celery juice, liposomal glutathione, and the right kinds of b12 and folate.

Ina Garten and Taylor Swift have a few things in common. The pair has been good friends, ever since they cooked together for a now iconic spread in Food Network Magazine. They both churn out mega-hits (cookbooks and albums), have huge fan bases, are both (fairly) universally beloved, and until very recently, were both pretty mum on the topic of politics.

Just last week Ina told HuffPo: “I don’t talk about politics. I don’t know if people know what my political beliefs are or not, but I just think it’s kind of like people’s diets: You worry about your diet and I’ll worry about mine.”

However Taylor Swift has notably taken to Instagram in the past few weeks to encourage her fans to register to vote, even going as far as to endorse specific Democratic candidates.

So here’s one conspiracy theory I’m happy to spread like wildfire: Swift’s recent calls to action regarding the upcoming midterm elections (on November 6th!!!) have inspired her pal Ina to at long last throw her potholder into the political ring.

LOOK WHAT YOU MADE HER DO, TAYLOR.

I have a variant on the CYP1A2 making me a slow metabolizer. I knew this before testing as I’ve never been able to sleep at night if I drink coffee late. I drink 1 cup in the morning. That’s it. I hope it doesn’t have any negative effect (:0
