We have a complicated, love-hate relationship with Amazon’s add-on items. If you’re not familiar, add-on items are only available for purchase when you order more than $25 worth of items — shipped by Amazon, to the same address. They’re usually lightweight and cheap and deemed “cost-prohibitive” to ship on their own (meaning, on their own, Amazon would lose money shipping the items to you). If your order doesn’t total $25 and you have an add-on item in your cart, the site will automatically save the item for next time.

Don’t get us wrong — we totally support making the most of a shipping situation. (Related: Alton Brown Called Out Amazon’s Wasteful Packaging on Instagram.) It’s just that we wish it was easier to get these little things on Amazon. Sure, sometimes you can find what you need at the dollar store, but you can’t always (and then you have to walk up and down the aisles because nothing is ever where you think it’ll be).

To make things easy for you, we scoured Amazon to find the add-on items that would be most useful in the kitchen. If you have an Amazon order that’s $25 or more, it’s worth tacking on one (or three!) of these things. Bonus: All of these things actually add up to $30, so they’d ship on their own, if you wanted!
