First, I tackle whether or not cod liver oil has a place in a Primal eater#8217;s pantry (or fridge), and whether standard cod liver oil is worth it. Then, I get into the suitability of mead, that honey wine popularized by the Vikings, followed by maple syrup. Is it another #8220;safer sweetener,#8221; just like a title=”Is Honey a Safe Sweetener?” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/is-honey-a-safer-sweetener/”honey/a, or is it a title=”The Definitive Guide to Sugar” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/the-definitive-guide-to-sugar/”sugar/a masquerading as a health food? After maple syrup, I dig into pectin, binder of jam and jelly; and sunflower butter, also known as sunbutter, a popular replacement for a title=”How Bad is Peanut Butter, Really?” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/how-bad-is-peanut-butter-really/”peanut butter/a. Finally, I scrutinize the food about which literally everyone in the Primal blogosphere has been wondering, the […]

Venturing into the weight room can be overwhelming at times. People grunting in the corner while heaving heavy dumbbells, weights clanking together on a barbell; and to top it all off, there’s a sea of machines with multiple moving parts and levers. Toss in choosing the right exercises and number of sets and reps, and strength training can seem overly complex (calculator anyone?).But there is a method to the madness. When done effectively, lifting weights offers amazing benefits, not only for building bigger muscles and achieving that desired physique, but also boosting your resting metabolism (translation: burn more calories outside the gym!) . Regular strength training can even improve mood and confidence levels .Ready to find that perfect training plan

pimg class=”alignright” title=”Women and Intermittent Fasting” src=”http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg158/MDA2008/MDA%202011/IF.jpg” alt=”IF” width=”320″ height=”212″ /Many differences exist between the two sexes. We look different. We sound different. We dress differently from each other. We like different things. Different genres of movies cause men and women to cry (differently). And although society, media, and culture drive and/or inform many of our differences, some are inherent and physiologically-driven. For example, men and women have different biological equipment #8211; both external and invisible to the naked eye #8211; that change how we interact with and respond to our environments, our exercise, our sleep, and our eating habits. Nowhere are these gender differences more evident than in the realm of health and nutrition, and yet it seems that I#8217;ve overlooked a big one: different sex responses to intermittent fasting./p

Purple-tinged arms curl and twist into an eye-catching swirl that looks more like a sculpture in an art museum than a meal on a plate. When it comes to food, however, beauty only goes so far. Eventually you’ve got to stick a fork in it and satisfy your hunger./p
pEither as an appetizer or main course, this recipe for grilled baby octopus is a stunning meal that will please both the eyes and the palate. An easy three-step cooking method (blanching, marinating, then grilling) creates tender, crispy octopus drenched in a garlicky, herby marinade and dressing./p

pPlain octopus has a delicate flavor that’s slightly sweet and similar to that of a scallop. In fact, the flavor of octopus can be so mild that it’s hard to dislike but octopus […]

They were planning on competing in the a title=”World’s Toughest Mudder” href=”http://toughmudder.com/events/worlds-toughest-mudder-series-finals/” target=”_blank”World#8217;s Toughest Mudder (WTM)/a, a perversely-warped, extreme version of the regular Tough Mudder that has contestants complete as many 8-10 mile circuits as they can in a single 24-hour period. To get the spot in the WTM, their four-man team had to place in the top 5% of finishers in the Melbourne Tough Mudder, so they aren#8217;t physical slouches by any means. A number of you emailed me directly, or left comments thanking me for the idea. Most people were on board with working outdoors, but mostly in theory, because let#8217;s face it #8211; being outside on a workday with the sun shining and the birds chirping and the breeze blowing sounds fantastic, but how realistic is it, really? Even if you#8217;re able to convince your boss to let you take the work outside, or you find a job that gives you the freedom to work where you like, the logistics of seamlessly moving a traditionally-indoor activity to the outdoors just seem insurmountable. How are you gonna get Internet access? How will you read your […]
