“Youth is wasted on the young”.
This is an old George Bernard quote that is often used to describe our hindsight approach to our youth.
We tend think of all the time we had when we were young. Or the energy, or the crazy things we should have tried/attempted/experienced.
We think of the opportunities or things we would have/ should have done differently.
We think about how we could “eat whatever we wanted and still stay thin”….and on and on.
We combine this ‘youth worship’ with sayings like “we aren’t getting any younger”
or my favorite – “I looked like that too when I was twenty” (Funny enough this person was talking about John Barban, who’s almost 37)
We can spend our lives searching for the fountain of youth, or we could try a different approach.
Here’s a thought: Right now is the youngest you are ever going to be.
