I have a tendency to pick recipes that are sneakily expensive. You know the ones. The recipe might require a bunch of spices I don’t already have in my arsenal, some kind of special olive garnish I didn’t think would cost me a lot of money, or dried cherries (my favorite), for example. The rest of the ingredients might seem simple enough, but these special add-ons always mean I’m spending more than I probably should.
Lately I’ve been trying to come to terms with these tendencies, and find delicious recipes that also fall into my new budget. The last couple months I’ve been on the hunt for budget-friendly soups, and I think I found my new favorite.
