See Some Warriors Sweatin’ It Uuupp!

  • Warrior Bump
    Fist Bump Jeanne

Max cycles in 20 minutes of:
1 Pullup/Chinup
2 Pushups
3 Full Squats

How-to:
Warmup: A couple rotations of the Grok Squat and Grok Hang.
Progress Check: You did this one back in August of last year. Today, you’re going to do it again to see how your current level of training compares to the last time. Try to beat your old score!
How-to: Execute 1 pullup. Drop down and perfom 2 pushups. Get up and do 3 full squats (bringing your hips to below your knees). That’s one cycle. Repeat, but this time do a chinup instead of a pullup.
Variations: If you can’t do a proper pullup/chinup, pushup or full squat substitute movements from Levels 1-3 of Primal Blueprint Fitness Lift Heavy Things (chapter 3).
Hat Tip: This workout is a favorite of mine. It’s a minor variation on a workout that is part of the SimpleFit protocol.

If you’re someone who has wondered if cooking a bird as small as a quail is worth the time and effort, let us remind you that good things do indeed come in small packages. As far as time and effort goes, it requires very little of either to serve quail. Its small size means that it takes just a sprinkle of seasoning or a brief amount of time in a marinade to add tons of extra flavor. Not that you need to; even with just a dash of salt, quail meat is tender and succulent. And quail cooks very quickly – 10 minutes or so on the grill and dinner is ready.

The daintiness of quail makes it seem like a fancy meal, but we recommend putting away the white tablecloth and good silver. Quail is the perfect finger food, so drop the knife and fork and dig in. If your […]

This is something I have been working on for a while now, but it wasn’t until recently that I decided that it needed to be free.
It’s important information that I think needs to be shared with as many people as possible.
So I’ve set this up so you can share it with anyone you wish. It’s also a work in progress. I will be adding more presentations, more downloads and more information as quickly as I can.
So with out further ado:
If you want to know how eating less (including fasting) can indirectly HELP you build muscle, and how over-eating, lack of sleep and even too much strenuous exercise can slow the muscle building process then this new project is for you:
Click HERE ? Inflammation and Muscle Growth
The presentation is live, and downloads will be made available shortly.
I hope you like it (Feedback welcomed)

It’s Friday, which means success story time. Today it is my pleasure to share Dorene’s story. She went Primal on January 1st, not long ago, but as you’ll see from her pictures, sometimes five weeks is all that’s needed to see change.
If you have your own Primal Blueprint success story and you’d like to share it with me and the MDA community please feel free to contact me here. Have a wonderful Friday, everyone, and thanks for reading!

Wowzers, my body is changing!!! I’ve done the low carb thing for 10 years on and off but not the Primal way…
The first time I did Atkins, I lost 20 lbs. Like I was on crack.
I think I was Primal without realizing it. I ate burgers, no bun, shrimp in garlic butter sauce, bacon, eggs and basically only meat. Very few veggies. At the time I was 28, surfing 4+ […]

Superficial observers of the ever-growing Primal movement often assume us to be a bunch loin-clothed Luddites, but, generally speaking, we aren’t paleo-romaticists eschewing all things new. In fact, many of us are nerds, technophiles, and gadget freaks that embrace the digital age. Sure, instead of slumping in a chair with Cheeto dust ‘staches, we’re constructing makeshift standup workstations with lard-slicked lips, but computers are still a part of our lives. Today’s post is about highlighting the tools that enable better Primal living through technology. There are some good ones out there, some new, some old and largely unnoticed, but all deserve a good hard look.

They’re among the most studied individuals on the planet, so unique in their circumstances that an exclusive branch of medicine has been devoted to them, indeed a new subcategory of physiology itself. Their experiences teach us about the fine delineations of human biology – as well as its inherent vulnerability. I’m talking about astronauts, whose explorations on behalf of humanity take them far beyond the landscape of earth and the natural conditions of human life. We read about their pioneering endeavors. We see the spectacular images, possible because of their labors. Yet, we know little of their experiences and the physical struggles they endure in the name of discovery.

To us, they might seem the epitome of vitality and enthusiasm as they wave their greetings from space or upon return from their voyages. Truly, these men and women must love what they do. They must value the extraordinary work of space […]

Dear Mark,
I am studying to become a nurse and am taking my first nutrition class at a local college. As one of our assignments we had to record everything we ate for an entire week. After looking at my results my teacher was dumbfounded. To make a long story short, my teacher told me that I should only be eating 38 grams of protein each day, and that any more than that could harm my kidneys. I’ve been Primal for 2 years and am healthier than ever. I am 5′ 2″ and and a very lean 105 pounds. Should I be concerned?
Renee

Well, Renee, I’m sorry to break it to you, but all those subjective health markers – like  being “healthier than ever,” a “very lean 105 pounds,” and satisfied enough to be “Primal for 2 years” – mean absolutely nothing because you are destroying your kidneys by exceeding your daily […]

Metabolism and weight loss need not be complex theory – however I know from experience that if you focus on the little things, it can become a scary, daunting concept.
However, If you let yourself get a little creative with an analogy it can become rather simple:

We are all magical Balloons.
We have a slow leak, but we do not burst (that’s the magic part).
Now, because of this leak we constantly need to add air to our balloons, so all of our balloons are all attached to bicycle pumps. We can control how much air is being pushed in, however many of us are pushing in way more air then can possibly escape through the leak. (This is our ‘calories in’)
As a result, we grow and and we grow, but thanks to magic – we don’t burst.
The leak can slow down or speed up a little, but this is completely dependent on […]
