I ran a very interesting experiment yesterday, and it proved to me something I had expected for a very long time – Most people already know how to lose weight properly.
This is what I wrote on this blog yesterday –
Hypothetical situation – I want to hear your ideas…
Your doctor has just told you that you need to lose 10 pounds of fat in two weeks, or you will die.
In this extreme situation, what would you do to lose ten pounds of fat?
Notes:
It’s ten pounds of FAT, so you can’t just cut of a leg or something crazy like that.
In this scenario we are assuming that you don’t have any crazy underlying health condition…obviously I see the irony here, I just don’t want to limit your creativity/ideas.
You can use the two weeks worth of time in any way you like (IE: let’s assume you don’t have to work or take care […]

A few weeks ago, I was talking to a potential client. He told me that he would love to get fit, but he just doesn’t have the time.
He’s just too busy with work, kids, internet porn, etc…
B.S.
He’s not busy…he’s lazy.
And he’s not alone.
According to the WHO, there are 3.6 billion lazy guys sitting on couches all around the world.
And the trainer who can help those lazy buggers transform their lazy asses from….
…is going to be rich.
Filthy…Stinking…Rich
So, here we go. The lazy man’s guide to getting ripped….or as I like to call it – My ticket to becoming filthy, stinking rich.
(BTW, this story is based on a real client. We have been training for one week. He has already lost 5 lbs.)
DIET
Meal # 1 – Breakfast
1 Tbsp of Fish Oil
3 medium sized Apple or Pears
3 fried or hard boiled Eggs
Water or Tea
5 grams of Leucine
Meal # 2 – Morning Coffee Break

KnuckleUp Fitness Beach Bootcamp Group
So, after 5 weeks of intensive military-style training, KnuckleUp’s fitness bootcamp comes to a victorious ending tomorrow (09/08).
We’ll post everybody’s results here as soon as they have their final weigh-ins, but our instructor Matt Costa estimates over 30 INCHES were lost by this group.
A group of 13 students lost 30 inches! That’s an average of 2.3″ PER STUDENT!
All of us here at the outer banks gym are extremely proud of these students: they worked REALLY hard, waking up at 5am, and completely reconfigured their bodies in the process.
So, to all of our Bootcamp students, a big CONGRATULATIONS on your accomplishment, and we hope all of you enjoy your new bodies!
A special shout out to Reverend Jay Bowman, who took charge of one of the classes when Matt was sick. Great job, Reverend!
And if you want to join Matt Costa on the next bootcamp, this […]

I want to explain to you a method of how to get stronger at push-ups and pull-ups. I found out about this method from former Soviet special forces trainer, Pavel Tsatsouline. Pavel is a guy I began following closely since the late 90's. I was just fascinated by his advanced strength training methods that were unlike anything I had read in the mainstream fitness magazines. His methods were based around training elite military forces how to stay light and lean, while gaining amazing strength. I began studying this guy like a mad-man. Here is just one of the many techniques I learned from this master trainer from the former Soviet Union.
[Here is a photo of a fighter plane from the former Soviet Union. I'm quickly becoming a history buff and I'm fascinated by the former USSR in particular. I vividly remember watching The Olympics in the 70's and 80's…and […]

The basis of Tabata Training is 4 minutes of intense interval training. What you are doing is taking an exercise we’ll use sprints as an example here. Sprint as hard as you can for 20 seconds Walk for 10 seconds Repeat 7 more times for a total of 8 sets. So what you have is a total of 4 minutes workout time. Tabata Training can be done with a number of different exercises the idea is to use an exercise that gets the whole body involved or at least the major muscle groups.Tabata Training can be done with Barbells, Dumbells, Kettlebells or just Bodyweight exercises. I’ll give you some other exercises and routines to try in a minute but first let me give you some background and how Tabatas work. Tabata Training was developed by Izumi Tabata (imagine that) at the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo, Japan. […]

I got some pictures the other day of my niece’s first day at big girl school (what a dote!) and then it hit me–summer is almost done, or for those of you across the pond it never really got started. Sorry ’bout that.
Here Stateside we celebrate Labor Day on Monday, meaning it’s a bank holiday weekend and our last official Summer hoo-ha before Autumn starts creeping in. We’ve been suffering a heat wave here this past week, so I made some refreshing ‘burgers’ that are a great idea for your last ’summer’ weekend.
