Two of the Gym’s Best Talents On The Ring
Justin ‘Tinman’ Newton, the youngest instructor at KnuckleUp Obx, joins PK on the ring for a quick MMA training.
Tinman is gaining lots of popularity amongst students due to his commitment and his high-energy kickboxing classes. He’s one of our many success stories, having lost over 30lbs of fat and gaining massive lean muscle in a short amount of time.
Recently, Tinman went on to score high in a national wrestling competition, showing amazing jiu jitsu and submission skills. On this video, he shows how the best MMA training in the Outer Banks quickly overcomes a huge reach difference as Tinman dominates the round.

The European EBU lightweight Champion Anthony Mezaache retained his title yesterday in Paris, France.
He spent 10 days in my camp near Philadelphia to start a strength and conditioning program 2 months ago. He showed great technique, speed and conditioning to win an unanimous decision in 12 rounds.

This question kept me up late last night:
Why don’t you make shopping lists for people instead of meal plans? let people make what they want, when they want it. when the food is out, you’re done eating until the next shopping list is published.

Really, its a very good idea.
A predetermined weekly shopping list that contains a set number of calories, fruits and vegetables provides an incredible amount of flexibility while at the same time helping people ‘target’ a certain calorie intake.
Basically, take a weekly calorie goal, and eat it through out the week in any manner you like. Once meal per day, three meals per day, 32 meals per day….what ever suits you best. BUT, when the food runs out..the food runs out.
This would be a great way to learn what a certain calorie intake ‘feels’ like.
The simplicity and logic makes this an intriguiging idea.
I checked with John Barban and […]

Fat Loss Meal Plans

NEWS FLASH: Over the next couple days your email in-box is going to be FLOODED by people promoting Meal Plans.
My guess is your going to get a MINIMUM of 5 emails over the next week.
You’re going to here all kinds of stories of why you absolutely MUST get a meal plan.
And, surprisingly (under the correct circumstances) even I am going to be one of those people!
Here’s the deal:
I’m not just blindly promoting some random product – I am promoting it for a specific purpose ANDfor a specific reason.
That reason is I lost a HUGE debate with Eat Stop Eat science editor John Barban.
This debate led to John creating meal plans.
It was about 2 months ago, we were sitting in Williams Coffee Pub in Burlington Ontario, I was having a cappuccino and John was having a black coffee (he was fasting).
Out of the blue, John drops this line on me
John: “You […]

Billy Frezza Will Be Debuting In The First MMA Cage Fight In The Outer Banks

KnuckleUp’s own Billy Frezza will make his debut during the first ever MMA Cage Fights in the Outer Banks, to take place July 18th, at the old SeaMark Store in Nags Head.
The Outer Banks club is proud to support Billy and he’s been receiving a well-rounded training, worth of a large amateur show.
Billy has been training with all of our highly-qualified instructors, each teaching him their specific areas of expertise, ranging from cardio training to jiu jitsu submissions.
I had the honor to help him with his submission training, and I was flabbergasted by his agility, speed, and technique. Given the approximate 70lbs difference between us, Billy’s ground game is effective and sharp.
A very dedicated fighter, he’s commited to the training, respects his intructors, and spends an unsurmountable amount of time at the gym. If Morrison had […]

Brad – as I’m wanting to lose “baby weight” after my 6th baby just 7 weeks ago I’m wondering your thoughts since I’m a nursing mother and getting enough nutrients to be sure my baby girl has enough. Is that not a concern since you actually do eat every day? Or would a 16 hour fast be better nutritionally for my baby?
Thanks so much –
Vanessa

From the research I have read, a women’s breast milk is unaltered during periods of short term fasting. The common belief is that the nutrients in breast milk come from the mother body-stores and not the immediate food derived sources.
I personally know of two women who have successfully lost baby weight while following ESE. First was my wife, and second was Lindsay, whom you can read about HERE.

I have to come clean and admit something before I begin this post. I use celebrity workout routines and various celebrity names to pull in additional visits to my site. For some reason, celebrities get more searches than any other subject matter online. I'm not impressed by an actor or actress who spends 3 hours per day for 2-3 months getting in shape for a role. It just shows me that they haven't adopted a lifestyle of health and fitness. Getting in shape isn't an impressive feat if it takes too much time. What is more impressive; someone with a lean and slim body who spends 10-12 per week training, or someone who is slim and only spends 3-5 hours per week training? Easy answer!

[Things aren't always as they appear in Hollywood. Celebrities have several tools at their disposal to make themselves appear better on camera than they do in […]

Hi Brad,
Came across your blog from Zen Habits and I have been doign the fast 2x/ week for 3 weeks now. Will it have the same affect if I am able to fast for 20-22 hours instead of full 24 hrs? Also, can we drink tea? Thanks!

24 hours was chosen mostly for its simplicity (it’s really easy to know when to stop your fast).
Most likely you will get almost the exact same results fasting for 22 as you would for 24. However, make sure you keep your fasts goal oriented (aim to hit 24) and if you can’t hit 24 hours make sure you know exactly why.
And, ‘I got hungry’ doesnt cut it.
You need to know what cues made you want to eat, and this is very important as these cues are so powerful that they were able to make you break your fast with only 2 hours left.
Indentifying […]
