Many people are quick to chalk up their metabolism to genetics, claiming that no matter what they do, it cannot be changed. This gives a seemingly acceptable excuse for weight loss struggles, food intake, and energy levels. What exactly is the body’s metabolism and can it be altered?

Green Tea and Resistance Training Promote Weight Loss and Increase Metabolism Posted on Tuesday, October 29th, 2013 at 7:31 pm.The American Botanical Council has published a study researching the effects green tea, paired with resistance training, can have on weight loss and metabolism boosts in overweight or obese women.Researchers in Sao Paulo, Brazil have completed a study which they believe helps prove that green tea promotes weight loss and overall loss of body fat, among other changes. This is especially true, according to the researchers, when green tea consumption is coupled with a resistance training program. The team of researchers studied 36 sedentary women, ranging in age from 20 to 40 years old.

It’s 12pm and I’m having my first meal. Not because I’m too busy to eat, hate breakfast, or I want to slow down my metabolism. It’s all part of the master plan I used to drop the most weight I EVER HAVE while maintaining the same body fat in only 30 days. Why did I do it? I told one of my old (young) college professors I would beat her in a half marathon, and in order to increase my speed I had to be lighter on my feet, which means dropping some serious LBS.

Wednesday, March 13, 2013 On Monday I started Intermittent Fasting. Im going with the 5:2 variety; 5 days a week you eat normally, not worrying about tracking calories but trying to eat clean anyway, and 2 non concurrent days a week you eat no more than 600 calories (500 calories for ladies). I was surprised how easy it was until later in the eveningjust at that point I would normally have a snack. I stayed strong though and made myself proud.

In November 2012, a new study reported that green tea combined with resistance training significantly impacted body fat, waist circumference and muscle strength better than either intervention alone. Previous research has shown that green tea has thermogenic and antiobesity properties. Thirty-six overweight or obese women ate a planned diet for four weeks.
