New Intermittent Fasting Weight Loss Obesity StudyAmazon.com Widgets In a paper published May 17 in Cell Metabolism, scientists from Salk’s Regulatory Biology Laboratory reported that mice limited to eating during an 8-hour period are healthier than mice that eat freely throughout the day, regardless of the quality and content of their diet. The study sought to determine whether obesity and metabolic diseases result from a high-fat diet or from disruption of metabolic cycles. “It’s a dogma that a high-fat diet leads to obesity and that we should eat frequently when we are awake,” says Satchidananda Panda, an associate professor in the Regulatory Biology Laboratory and senior author of the paper. “Our findings, however, suggest that regular eating times and fasting for a significant number of hours a day might be beneficial to our health.” Panda’s team fed two sets of mice, which shared the same genes, gender and age, a diet comprising 60 percent of its calories from fat (like eating potato chips and ice-cream for all your meals).

I promised myself that I wouldn’t take it upon myself to DEFEND intermittent fasting…mostly because I do not see that as my role.I enjoy intermittent fasting, and it is what I do to stay lean. I am educated in intermittent fasting, and I enjoy writing about it, but I don’t see it as my child that I need to defend when someone kicks sand in its face on the playground that is the internet.Yet, here I am.Hopefully, you’ll see that I’m not about to defend Intermittent Fasting, but rather defend logical thought. Most of (but not all) the slander about intermittent fasting that is popping up on the net is a mix of purposeful attacks (typically to gain traffic and Google rankings) and logical fallacies – ideas that seem logical, but on further investigation are lacking in soundness and validity.I really don’t mind when people discuss possible negatives of IF, since it forces me to expand my understanding of the research. However, I do mind when people cloud the science of IF with logical fallacies.I want to start with an obvious logical fallacy – that a high protein diet is exactly the same as intermittent fasting because it has almost identical effects on hypocretin neurons. Fine, then by that rationale, intermittent fasting is exactly the same as a high protein diet.Obviously this is incorrect, since high protein diets have  myriad of health effects the intermittent fasting simply does not have. Which is exactly my point – intermittent fasting also has a myriad of health effects that a high protein diet does not have

We’ve been told since we were children that we need to eat three square meals a day. But new research shows that we don’t need to be eating throughout the course of the day. And in fact, it might even be undermining our health. These insights have given rise to what’s known as “intermittent fasting” — the daily restriction of meals and caloric intake. Here’s why some health experts believe you should starve yourself just a little bit each day

Intermittent Fasting Finally Becoming Mainstream Health RecommendationIt is nice to see the intermittent fasting approach that I have recommended for some time now is starting to catch on. This is no surprise to me as it is one of the most powerful interventions I know of to move your body into fat burning mode and have your hunger nearly magically disappear. It is a powerful tool to help you keep a healthy weight. In a new diet book, The Fast Diet: Lose Weight, Stay Healthy, and Live Longer with the Simple Secret of Intermittent Fasting, Dr. Michael Mosley1 suggests the best way to lose weight is to eat normally for five days a week, and fast for two.

The harder muscles work, the more oxygen they require. This is measured relative to one’s VO2 max, which is the highest amount of oxygen your body consumes during exercise

Before you start IF I recommend you reading my experience, since it might be a scary experience just dwelling into it and not knowing whats going on, like it happened to me. As many of you know, I’ve practiced various methods of Intermittent Fasting (IF) for the greater part of the last half a year. I’ve used Ori Hofmekler’s The Warrior Diet,Brad Pilon’s Eat Stop Eat and eventually I created a few variations of my own.All in all, throughout my time spent Intermittent Fasting I’ve learned a great deal, experienced great results for the six pack abs, and thoroughly enjoyed myself while doing it.Recently, however, I gave it up for now. Its a great tool to have in your physique building tool box but this is why I gave it up:I write the benefits and side effects I experienced, but the side effects out weight the benefits in my opinion:benefits:- 10 pounds of fat lost during 14 days.- I got incredibly vasculine and shredded, easy to loose fat with little or without cardio.-
