No, I’m not having a momentary spelling blip, that is definitely Hiit with two ‘I’s. Hiit actually stands for High Intensity Interval Training, and if you’ve seen Kick Ass you’ll certainly be feeling as hard-core as Chloe Moretz’s character of the same name after 30 minutes of this! The studio, exclusively for women, is a vision in pink. Pink walls, pink exercise balls, pink mats – it’s a girly girl’s dream. But it doesn’t exactly scream intensity.

You’ll probably call me a nerd for this, but I’m like a little kid at the candy store every month when I get my TT Trainer newsletter info from my fitness coach, Craig Ballantyne. Here’s a classic pic of Craig B and I at the very first TT Summit:I’ll set out a block of time and read every single word of his newsletter.I don’t know how Craig Ballantyne does it, but he always seems to find the most cutting-edge fat burning studies before me…… and I’m subscribed to dozens of fitness newsletters. And he may have found the best study yet…More importantly, this study is going to help you increase post-exercise calorie afterburn by 450%.It’s great to see the science catching up to support the type of workouts that he has been publishing online and in Men’s Health magazine for over a decade.Consider this the New Rule of Metabolic Resistance Training.Because quite frankly, MOST “MRT” workouts are not true metabolic resistance training. In fact, I’ve seen loopholes in many programs published on the web and magazines. I’ll get to that soon.

If you’re short on time but still want to fit in an effective training session—especially if your goal is fat loss—metabolic resistance training (MRT) is tough to beat. With this training style, the goal is to maximize caloric expenditure while also increasing your metabolic rate. There are many different ways to structure an MRT session, but generally speaking, circuit training lends itself well to this approach. Here, you’ll find two different examples of the same MRT session—one for beginners and another for intermediate/advanced trainees. Perform the workout on three non-consecutive days per week, for four weeks. It’s designed to take about 25 minutes during the first two weeks and even less time after that. How it works: Beginners will perform 1 set of A1, rest for 30 seconds; perform 1 set of A2, rest for 30 seconds; perform 1 set of A3, and then rest 60 seconds before repeating the mini-circuit 2 more times

What is HIIT?HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. HIIT is a method of working out in which you alternate low intensity moderate training for higher intensity training. High intensity training usually has less rest in between sets, and you are often working at very intense levels, whether is lifting more weight than you’re usually accustomed to, or sprinting harder than you would normally.

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is still a relatively new phenomenon in the fitness world, some people claim it is the quickest and most efficient way to lose fat fast, while others still prefer going for a light jog or a walk. What Is HIIT HIIT stands for high intensity interval training, which means you perform a high intensity interval (+80% max heart rate) followed by a low intensity interval. The most common HIIT technique is a 30 second sprint followed by a 1 minute walk. The intervals are usually repeated for 10-15 minutes. A light warm up is recommended due to the increased chance of injury associated with high intensity activity, a 5-10 minute warm down is also recommended.
